Alex and I just got back from the first long distance test trip. We made it 90 miles, mostly in the (very cold) rain but it was a lot of fun! We had some problems with the friction drive in the rain but other than that, everything ran very smoothly. Luckily, I had a DeLorme (the top mapping company in the world) PN-40, a wonderful, water proof hand held GPS unit, and it kept us from getting lost on all of the back country roads. It locked onto satellites very quickly and we where even able to update routes on the way. I use a Ram handlebar mount to keep it in view while ridding.
